As Anglicans, our beliefs are founded in the Bible which we receive as God’s reliable word. Although the Bible is a collection of 66 books, written over thousands of years, it tells one overarching story – the story of God’s grace, his undeserved kindness towards the people he created. That story reaches a climax in the person and work of Jesus Christ. God’s grace is seen most clearly in Jesus’ death and resurrection on behalf of sinful people. Through trusting in Jesus, people can be saved from the judgement they deserve and brought back into the enjoyment of relationship with God. This salvation is not on the basis of anything people do, but solely on the basis of what Jesus has done. It’s grace!
The church today is the community of people who enjoy this relationship with God. We are called upon to reflect and proclaim God’s grace to the world, while we wait for the return of Jesus, when the full riches of God’s grace will be seen.
